Inspiration Workshop: Inspiring Books

Another Thursday, another two post day.  And another Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop.  This weeks prompt is inspiring books.

This one is easy-peasy for me.

Have you ever heard of this little ole' Shel Silverstein book called The Giving Tree?

I was read this book as a child, and it has ALWAYS stuck with me. I am pretty sure it is what has inspired me to try and not be selfish throughout my life.  Put others before myself.  {And most of the time, that is a good thing.}

We bought it for J#3 for his 1st birthday, and we have started reading it to him at bedtime now and then.  He loves it.  And we plan to buy it for J#4 as well.  I hope it has the same meaning for them as it has for me.

The other book that inspires me?    The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.   I read this book for the first time right around the time J#3 was born.  And my life has never been the same.  Because people...a positive attitude can perpetuate positive experiences in life.

There are times I go back and read parts of this book, because when I am in a "negative rut"  I need to be reminded that is just prolonging the negativity.

I am thinking The Secret might be a bit of a controversial choice, because there are some that might think God has a plan for us, and we can't affect it.  I am a BIG believer that God does have a plan for each of us, and everything happens for a reason.  But while we are living this life, why not live it positively?  With positive repercussions?

Oh, and I LOVE this bookcase. Isn't it awesome?  I am becoming a big fan of rainbows.  And who wouldn't want a rainbow shelf?  Well, I know I would.

But that will have to wait until we have settled down somewhere.

And who knows when that will be?

Because right now it is books on the Kindle for me.  Them books are heavy.

And we move.

A lot.

That book case is soooooooooo cool. Totally agree with you re your remarks on the Secret. God has a plan or plans! There's more than one, we just have to do the best we can to listen and walk in them. I learned so much about positivity from 'Norman Vincent Peale - ever read any of his? Nics
