Five Minute Friday: in real life

So, here I said I was torn.  But after reading some of the other bloggers who linked up with The Gypsy Mama this week, I was inspired.  Again.

Just full of inspiration today, aren't I?

So here we go, five minutes, unedited.

START:

In real life.  It's a quandary for me.  I get lost searching for what my real life is.

For some reason, I feel like our time here (in the Netherlands) isn't real life.  But it is.  I have real friends here.  I have a VERY real family here.  And this is what I have to learn.  Its why there are constant reminders around my blog (begin each day as if it were on purpose, living in the moment), because I NEED the reminders.

I keep thinking "real life" is back in Minnesota.  But, its not.  Well, it is...but not my real life, not right now.
Real life is here.  Now.  With my husband, son and daughter.  Living adventures each day, each weekend, crossing things off of my bucket list.

Real life isn't on the computer, isn't found in blogs.  Well, it is.  Don't get me wrong.  But I need to find my way away from the computer more.  To experience my real life.  With my children as they are right now.

I need to be present.  In real life.  So the time is coming...I need to turn off the computer.

Not all the time...but most of the time.  Being present, in real life, means being aware.  Being available.  Being a patient, loving mother and wife with all the time in the world for the people who matter the most to me.

STOP

Please make sure to visit The Gypsy Mama and check out some of these other wonderful bloggers. If I do this quick enough, one of the post just ahead of mine will be one of my real life friends.  Read.  Be inspired.    Have a great weekend!

good words for all of us, no doubt. whether we are "home" or living away from what we consider home, it is a struggle to balance this on-line world with real life, i think. be encouraged. you are seeking after Him, He is revealing Himself, and you have your priorities right where they need to be.
and, of course, you don't have to give all of this up completely, right? :-)
blessings to you this day!

It can be such a struggle, dividing our time between all those things that call to us, and yet wanting and needing to be "a patient, loving mother and wife with all the time in the world for the people who matter the most to me."

Ah, that is home, indeed, wherever you are. Being, really being, with those you love.

Blessings and prayers to you!

Great words of wisdom. It's hard to balance life some times. Praying you are blessed as you respond as the Holy Spirit is leading you.

Me too. I really struggle with spending too much time in the 'real life' on the computer and not present to the 'real life' happening with my kiddos and my husband. I find it an embarrassing and defeating truth about myself. I'm struggling with you and trying every day. Thank you for sharing about it so honestly here.

First off, you have adorable kids :)! I loved what you said about just shutting down the computer and just being present in real life. It's so easy to get swallowed up in the Internet hole and before you know it, half the day is gone. I need to learn to have a set amount of time for the computer and then I just unplug and live my life.

Beautiful pic Jen. It is so hard being here and there, and real in lots of places. Really encouraging post. Nics

Oh, I get it. The waiting for "real life" and yet missing it. Good reminder. Beautiful words. I was just in the Netherlands a few years ago.

Nice meeting you through the link-up.
